February carries with it a special time being the second month of the year
and with it the second half of winter. It reminds us that winter is soon to pass.
It is during the winter months that I find time to do a few things that I don’t
have the time to do in the other seasons of the year. In Indiana, we are blessed
to have the four seasons that are distinctively different from one another.
There are places that the seasons sort of run together, and it’s hard to tell one
from the other. Jesus must have had the Midwest in mind when he said as
long as time exists, summer and winter fall and spring will continue. However,
there are some things that are always the same. Jesus is the same yesterday,
today and forever. The word of God never changes. If it was good to live by
yesterday, it will still be good to live by today and also tomorrow. Many people
are looking for different ways to be happy. They say that are looking to find
a way that offers more to life than what exists today. I don’t believe they have
searched out ALL the facts for Christ has forgiven me of all my sins. You see,
without choice, we were born into sin. (The world is filled with sin.) The word
says, that all have sinned and have come short of the glory of God. Yet
God offers forgiveness AND eternal life with the Father.
I have a home in the New Jerusalem where the streets are paved with pure
gold, the gates to the city are made of one solid pearl, and where death and
disease will never be a factor. Why would I look for a different way
other than Jesus, the one who offers truth and life? Yes, he is the only way
and I am not looking for another. I invite you to join me in this wonderful
way that leads home. Jesus is standing with outstretched arms, reaching to
each of us and saying “Come home, Come home.” Yes, to you he is calling.
Join with me today by accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
Your Pastors,
Rev. Richard and Rosie Deckard

Rita’s Review

For a moment let’s daydream. I prefer to think about being on a warm coastal beach. With book in hand, umbrella overhead, and no agenda for the rest of the day, I’m free to lounge in
the sunshine and glow of ease. Now I realize there are others who would much prefer the busy ness of hiking, skiing, water sports, so whatever your
leisure, just for a moment, put yourself in that setting. It’s February. What else is there to do but daydream? If you are able to daydream that way, for just a moment actually, then you are like me. We are too blessed for our own good. For there are so many who find themselves in worry over every detail of their lives. Where will they sleep? When will they eat again? Where could they find employment or security? How is their family? And on and on the list goes. There are so many people who are struggling daily to make ends meet. There are
agencies/organizations who try but no one has the answer for the masses except Jesus.
Jesus said “Come.” And I am so glad that he did. He promised that his “yoke is easy and his burden light”. His way is
straight and narrow. A person will not get lost following the roadmap given by God’s holy word. Let’s show our love for God this month by reaching out those who are hurting, lost, or hungry. Show compassion to others, for that is what
Christ would want you to do. -rita
